Dr. Mike Simmons is known as a systems level thinker who effectively combines his knowledge of systems, program and product design, community engagement and the measurement of impact with his passion for the community in an effort to help maximize social impact.
Prior to founding BBS, Mike worked nearly 30 years for Eli Lilly and Company. A significant portion of his career there focused on working with patient advocates, professional medical organizations, government leaders and other stakeholders to help improve medical and social services for people with severe and persistent mental illness and those with cognitive impairment/dementia.
His efforts resulted in programs and partnerships led to increased community engagement, greater collaboration and improved systems of care, that fostered improved results and increased funding at the at the national, state and local level. He has also applied his knowledge and skills to projects focused on education and poverty.
Mike holds a B.A. in English from Wabash College, an MBA from Butler University’s Lacy School of Business and a DBA in Marketing from Kennesaw State University. He has academic appointments at both Butler University and Babson College where he teaches product management, brand management, corporate social responsibility and experiential courses aimed at building individual skills like the MBA business practicum and the MBA board Fellows.
